Gods among the Mice

Lady Lumierre: First One. Inventor of swords and swordfighting. Occasionally rumored to walk amongst the common mice, as though she never actually died. According to the stories, she's a small, visually unimpressive female white mouse who wanders the land anonymously and her divine nature is only revealed on those rare occasions when she uses her swords. It's said that she can fly and once sliced a Ka'at in two by flying around its belly repeatedly with her sword out.

Emperor Luciel: First One. The First Emperor. Ruler of the Gods. Believed to rule the storms. Lives in an enormous iron palace in the clouds.

Lady Canduss: First One. Inventor of money and trade. Created the imperial mint (which was later destroyed by one of her descendants). Still thought of as the patron of merchants.

Nargan the Strong: First One. Said to have been almost as large as a rat and stronger than a hundred rats. Believed to have created most of the rocky outcroppings by striking the ground and to have hauled away the great tree of Oakendale. Associated with a hundred tall tales of strength and daring.

Lord Sethias: First One. No longer openly worshipped; his name was struck from the ancient records after some terrible crime. Believed by some to have been the First One who discovered how to grant intelligence to rats and jumping mice. At least one ancient text indicates that he was working on granting intelligence to non-rodents when the others decided that he had gone mad and slew him.

Lord Duvain: First One. Known for his speed, stealth, cleverness and charm. Not the most powerful of the First Ones, but probably the most popular. Believed to have fathered hundreds of children; many small towns claim him as their founder.

Quickpaw: a common mouse adventurer of legendary cunning and daring. Officially, the church regards Quickpaw as a purely fictional character, but he is believed by some to have been the son of Lord Duvain. He is worshipped openly only in Darin's Weal, but tales of his humorous exploits are popular everywhere.
