Magical Art: The Black Art
The Black Art, as it is called, works by calling upon the hungry spirits that occupy the void between the realms. Since those creatures feed on both mana and life-force, they are extremely dangerous to deal with. The Black Art is concerned with calling them forth, commanding them, and banishing them again.
Primary Effects:
- Summoning Devourers.
- Commanding them.
- Binding them into corpses in order to reanimate the body as an undead creature.
- Banishing them back to the void.
Secondary Effects (-5):
- Loosely binding Devourers to a place, person or object so that they produce subtle effects upon it. Living beings may sicken or die, or be gripped by insane rages.
- Forcing material Devourers to become incorporeal or incorporeal ones to form a physical body.
- "Thinning" the barrier between the mortal world and the void so that an area becomes more vulnerable to Devourers and they become easier to summon there.
- Binding one to a physical location or object so that they cannot leave the vicinity.
Tertiary Effects (-10):
- Reducing the mana level in the enviroment by draining it into the void.
- Destroying objects or people by dropping them into the void.
- Enchanting a weapon such that it can hurt incorporeal Devourers.
What it can't do:
- Control or influence any creature which is actually alive.
- Control or influence ghosts, souls or other true spirits.
