Advancement Thought
If I used the Pendragon/BRP "get better by using it" paradigm for normal advancement, I'd probably want to add some sort of "between adventures" major reward, which grants automatic advancement. Here's a possible implementation.
You get to pick from:
- 1 skill point which can be spent on any skill already at 20 or above.
- 2 sp, which cannot increase any skills above 20.
- 4 sp, which cannot increase any skills above 15.
- Or 8 sp, which cannot increase any skills above 10.
Alternatively, it could use something similar to Ironclaw and say that it costs 1 XP to add +1 to a skill that's at the 0-5 level, 2 XP to increase one at the 6-10 level, 3 XP to increase one at 11-15, 4 XP to increase one at 16-20 and 5 XP to increase a skill that's at 21+. And you might well be limited to spending at most 1 XP on something per session.
