PDF Changes
Okay, I do need to write up a PDF for Nuclear Beasts. Writing up the system again may help me fill in holes, anyway. Let's see... major changes since the last version...
- No Race/Instinct trait.
- Only 12 Breeds... that should be simple enough that I can actually get them written.
- No Luck trait... let's just use an arbitrary d12 roll, just like Albedo.
- Big and Small now adjust your maximum stats. You should probably pick a Breed before doing stats or skills.
- Spirit replaces Charm.
- Now supports "Fortitude", "Reflex" and "Willpower" saves. I need to name them differently, though... Reflex was being called a Reaction check earlier, since I used it for initiative too. Muscles & Guts could be called a Toughness check or a Survival check. Or a Durability check. Willpower will probably stay Willpower, since that's what it is.
- I could also do some additional checks... am I fortunate enough to have two sets of 3 that make sense? Endurance: Guts & Spirit. Idea: Brains & Perception. That would leave Muscles & Speed... can't think of a good one for that. But it probably wouldn't make much sense to do Muscles & Perception or Muscles & Spirit.
- Any other important changes? Besides my thoughts about abandoning the old damage system and inventing a new one... again?
- All of the psychic powers. I may only describe a handful of them at first. Doing all eleven in detail would be time consuming. We'll see.
- Totally different skill list.
- Addition of half-cost skills.
- Replacing "Balanced Traits" with Drives. I may allow for "minor drives" which only grant a +1/-2 in extreme situations and otherwise have no game effects.
- Back to requiring you to max out a die in a skill before buying a new one. I might allow buying new dice at any time as an optional rule, though.
